Born in 1974 and based in Miami, CYJO is a Korean American artist who primarily works with lens-based media. Her acclaimed series "KYOPO" (2004-2009) and "Mixed Blood" (2010-2017) blend photographic and narrative portraits, exploring themes of culture, immigration, and identity. Through collaboration, CYJO's projects reveal the intricate connections between ancestry, citizenship, and personal journeys, offering diverse perspectives on the human experience. Having lived in urban centers like the DC Metro Area, NYC, Florence, Beijing, and Miami, CYJO's work explores categorization and the evolving identities of individuals and places within cultural frameworks and social landscapes.
